- We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for targeted advertising.
- We use a small number of service providers to run our site, send email, and schedule meetings.
- We use artificial intelligence (AI) tools to help with research, writing, and checking our content. Every page is reviewed by a licensed professional before it is published. We do not put your personal information into AI tools.
- You can ask us to show you, correct, or delete the information we have about you at any time.
1. What information do we collect?
Information you give us. When you fill out a form, use a calculator that emails you results, book a meeting, answer our pre-meeting questions, or contact us, we may collect:
- your first and last name
- your email address
- your phone number, if you give it to us
- your mailing address, if you give it to us
- your answers to our questions about your retirement goals and lifestyle
- financial information you choose to share with us, such as savings, income, or Social Security amounts
We only collect financial information when you choose to give it to us.
Information collected automatically. When you visit our site, some information is collected automatically, such as your IP address (the number that identifies your internet connection), browser type, device type, general location (city or region, based on your IP address), the pages you visit, and how long you stay. This helps us understand which pages are useful and keep the site working.
2. How do we use your information?
We use your information to:
- respond to your questions and requests
- send you the calculator results, guides, or emails you asked for
- schedule and prepare for meetings with you
- send you emails about retirement planning, if you signed up for them (you can unsubscribe at any time)
- understand how people use our site so we can improve it
- keep our site secure
- meet our legal and licensing obligations
3. Who do we share your information with?
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only in these situations:
Service providers. We use outside companies to run our business. They only receive the information they need to do their job for us. These include:
- Bluehost, which hosts our website and our business email
- MailerLite, which sends our emails and stores our email list
- TidyCal, which handles meeting scheduling
- Google Analytics, which shows us how visitors use our site (see section 4)
- YouTube, which plays the videos on our site
- Microsoft, whose Outlook program we use to read email and whose OneDrive service stores backup copies of some of our computer files
Insurance companies. If you decide to apply for an insurance or annuity product, we share the information needed for your application with the insurance company that will issue it. Applications are submitted through a secure electronic application system provided through our insurance marketing organization (the company that contracts us with insurance companies). The insurance company will give you its own privacy notice.
Legal reasons. We may share information if the law requires it, if a state insurance regulator asks for it, or to protect our rights.
Business transfer. If our business is ever sold or merged, your information may be transferred to the new owner, who must follow this policy.
4. Do we use cookies and tracking?
Cookies are small files your browser saves when you visit a website. We use Google Analytics, which uses cookies to show us how many people visit our site, which pages they read, and how they found us.
We do not use advertising cookies. We do not use Google Analytics for advertising or remarketing (showing you ads on other websites after you visit ours). We do not use the Facebook pixel or other ad-tracking tools.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. You can also stop Google Analytics from tracking you on any website by installing Google’s opt-out tool at https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout. To learn how Google uses this data, see Google’s Privacy Policy at https://policies.google.com/privacy.
Our site does not currently respond to “Do Not Track” browser signals, because there is no common standard for them.
5. How do we use artificial intelligence (AI)?
We believe you should know how we use AI, so here it is in plain terms.
How we use AI. We use AI tools, such as Claude (made by Anthropic), to help us research topics, draft and edit our writing, and check our work for errors. Some images on our site may be created with AI tools, such as Adobe Firefly.
How our content is reviewed. The ideas, the planning approach, and the final say on every page come from Kurt H. Jackson, a licensed insurance professional. AI helps with the work, and every page is reviewed before it is published. AI tools can make mistakes, which is why we check the facts and list our sources on our pages.
Your information and AI. We do not enter your personal information, such as your name, contact details, or financial information, into AI tools.
No AI decisions about you. Our site does not have an AI chatbot, and we do not use AI to make decisions about you or about any insurance or annuity product you may apply for.
6. How long do we keep your information?
We keep your information only as long as we need it for the reasons in this policy, or as long as the law or our insurance licensing rules require. When we no longer need it, we delete it.
7. How do we keep your information safe?
We use reasonable steps to protect your information, such as secure (encrypted) connections on our site and password-protected accounts with our service providers. No website or email system is 100% secure, so we cannot guarantee that information sent over the internet will never be accessed by someone who should not have it.
8. Children
Our site is for adults planning for retirement. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe we have information about someone under 18, email us at kurt@kjfinancialonline.com and we will delete it.
9. Your choices and rights
No matter which state you live in, you can ask us to:
- tell you what personal information we have about you
- give you a copy of it
- correct it
- delete it
- stop sending you marketing emails
To unsubscribe from our emails, click the “unsubscribe” link at the bottom of any email we send. For any other request, email us at kurt@kjfinancialonline.com or write to us at the address below. We may need to confirm your identity before we act on a request. We will not treat you differently for making a request.
Some states give their residents specific privacy rights by law. If you live in one of those states, we will honor the rights your state gives you. If we turn down a request, you can appeal by emailing us, and we will reply in writing.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when our practices or the law change. When we do, we will change the “Last updated” date at the top of this page.
